Messier 57 - the Ring Nebula

AKA: NGC 6720 | PN G063.1+13.9, J2000 RA: 18h53m35.01s, Dec: +33°01m42.9s, Mag: 8.8, Distance: 705 pc, Size: 1.4x1.0 arc min, Type: !PN.

This is one of my favouriate targets to look at. Through my telescope on a clear, crisp night, it looks very much like the image above. A beautiful, haunting gray smoke ring dangling in the depths of space. I don't recall yet picking out the central star - and with just an 8” telescope, that might not be possible (or at least just on the edge of possible, as that star is around magnitude 15).
